Entering the question ‘What’s Happened To NASCAR’s Good Ole Boy?’ into your favorite search engine could surprise you! Once Darrel Waltrip has utter those famous words ‘lets go racing boys’, he’s so busy apparently he doesn’t have time to air some ‘juicy’ clues about what’s new with the good ole boys.

For starters, this year’s Watkins Glen winner wasn’t even an American. Marcos Ambrose is a down-under driver from Australia, Tasmania to be exact. According to sources, for his third season, Ambrose and his family are now residents of Charlotte, North Carolina. Following the race the Ambrose family flew back to Charlotte so his son could start his very first day of school.

Unless Montoya happens to be your favorite driver, maybe you don’t know his aka is Juan Pablo Montoya or that he’s from Columbia, in South America. According to Montoya, the Sprint Cup races are being broadcast on live TV in Brazil this year.

Rumor has it the good ole boys better watch out in 2012 because a girl’s going to be on the track! Danica Patrick is about to announce being contracted by Stewart-Haas. The ‘Stewart’ in that partnership is none other than the ever-popular Tony Stewart.

Have NASCAR’s Demographics Shifted to the North and West?
Die hard NASCAR fans know that the southeast has always been considered the home of NASCAR. Tracks like Talladega, Atlanta, and the Charlotte Motor Speedway, have helped make stock car racing what it is today. But , as this sport continues to reach out a little farther each year, will the southeast continue to be considered NASCAR-s home?

Races are or have been held in places like Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Kansas City, New Hampshire, and even Phoenix Arizona. Could a new home for NASCAR develop somewhere to the west or north as the sport keeps growingtime will tell. The fan base is certainly spreading across the nation at a furious pace. Stock car racing is the fastest growing sport at this time and shows no sign of slowing down.

As demographics shift north and west, NASCAR no longer seems to be just a southern sport, it is beginning to take on a more national look. If something doesn-t happen to kill the momentum of growth, stock car racing could one day rival the other two major sports for fan numbers and advertising dollars. What a shake up that would be! NASCAR has certainly changed the sport from weekends on tiny little dirt tracks in the south to the super speedways where racing takes place now. Can-t wait to see what-s next.

To the casual observer, it would seem like the coolest thing in the world to carry the same name as one of the greatest and most beloved NASCAR drivers of all time. It would seem like a chance to follow in the footsteps of Dad and add to the family legacy, to grow the legend of “The Intimidator.”

But Dale Earnhardt, Jr. is finding out that there’s more to it than just picking up where your father left off.

Junior’s commercial success and popularity, in fact, far outpaces anything his father ever accomplished. But to the seasoned NASCAR fan, that’s not what matters. On-track performance was what Dale Sr. was about, and Junior hasn’t come close to matching his performance there.

Dale Sr. won seven Winston Cup series titles, tied with Richard Petty for the most of all time. Petty is the undisputed king of NASCAR. Junior’s best finish in the series, now known as the Sprint Cup, was third overall in 2003. Junior has won 18 Sprint Cup races in his career, which would be incredible for most drivers. But Junior’s daddy won 76 races.

Despite the cash and fame, Junior will always live in The Intimidator’s long shadow.

You think you know about the best tracks in the country? Think again! We-ve got our definitive list of the top 3 NASCAR tracks in the US and if you know what-s good for you you-ll get on your satellitestarinternet.com and purchase tickets to one of their upcoming races ASAP. Winter-s closing in and the season-s drawing to a close
Charlotte Motor Speedway ” One of the most revered in the industry, Charlotte-s track has been around longer than dirt. It-s well maintained and the grandstands allow for great views no matter your seat. Rest assured there-s tons of tailgating room as well.
Talladega ” It-s no secret this Alabama track has a unique shape but its narrow lanes provides for a lot of action when the wheels touch. It-s got more seating than any other track in the country and fans are rabid here ” it-s a must see.
Darlington ” Nicknamed “The Lady in Black’ for good reason, this is the oldest circular track in NASCAR and it-s shaped funnier than Will Ferrell-s hair. With one narrow end and one wide end the action never stops when you take in a race here.

The auto racing industry is not immune to rising gas prices. Quite the opposite actually, as those with the need for speed consume a tremendous amount of fuel in practice sessions, as well as races. No matter how many sponsors a racer has, money is always kept in mind, and the cost of fuel is not going unnoticed.

Several options are being considered in order to save money. The first is to limit practice sessions. No one wants this to happen, as practice is necessary, but it is an option.This/tag helps explain it more. This would likely be the easiest way to save on fuel costs, as drivers would eventually adjust to practicing less.

Another option would be more fuel efficient car design. Most are not in favor of this option, as the loss of engine power could result. There would need to be a delicate balance achieved. One in which less fuel is used, yet there is no horsepower loss. It is hard to image that this is a plausible solution for the immediate future.

The auto racing industry is just as concerned with gas prices as we are. However, finding solutions to this problem will take much creativity and time. The auto racing industry is always on the forefront of automobile technology, so there will certainly be changes in the future.

Just like all sports, NASCAR has a few drivers that are head and shoulders above all the rest. As the drivers age, it is necessary for new drivers to step up and take control of the wheel. Right now, NASCAR has a great group of younger drivers who are doing their part to maintain their sports popularity. If NASCAR is going to continue to increase its fan base it is important that they develop a pipeline of new talent to keep fans interested during the long season. There are some very talented drivers who are just waiting for the chance to drive.Additional information can be found at http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/more-sports/kyle-busch-wins-dover-trucks-race/article2022116/. Here are a few names to watch out for in 2011 and beyond.

One of the most talented drivers waiting for his chance is Cole Whitt. Whitt is only 20 years old and has been racing for most of his life. Another driver as talented as Whitt is Austin Dillon. Dillon is the grandson of Richard Childress and has racing in his blood. One year older than Whitt, Dillon should show up in NASCAR around the 2012 season. A name fans should already know is Justin Allgaier. Allgaier, currently driving in the Nationwide Series, is a few years older than the other two drivers and should break into the Sprint Cup before much longer. It would also be wise to not forget about Trevor Bane.

There are a lot of questions surrounding Danica Patrick and one of the big ones is Danica Patrick legit or a novelty? This argument starts with her success, or lack of success in the IndyCar Series. In 2005 she was named Rookie of the Year for her finish in the Indianapolis 500 and overall Rookie of the Year for the 2005 IndyCar Series. With a promising start to career like this it would seem that she was a legit driver.

Unfortunately for Danica success has not continued throughout her entire career. Her first and only win happened in 2008 in the Indy Japan 300. This did make her the first female winner of an IndyCar race. Her best finish in the king of races, the Indianapolis 500, was 3rd in 2009. In 2010 she did join the NASCAR Nationwide Series. She did finish 4th in an NASCAR Nationwide Series at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

While Danica Patrick has certainly done some great things racing and set some personal bests for women, she lacks that career defining great win and consistency. People that see her as a novelty only have to mention her modeling and acting career which takes up much of her time.
