Being inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame is a great honor among drivers, crew chiefs, owners as well as other main contributors of the competition inside the sanctioning body. The rules of racing are simple, drive fast and turn left. Most of these drivers have been driving a race car, sprint car or truck for several years before they climb into an actual NASCAR.
It doesn’t matter if you follow the sport to watch the crashes or if you just love the sport itself, anyone who has been to a NASCAR race or watched one on the television will tell you, ” These men work hard and play harder.This/tag helps explain it more. ” Honor among men here is earned not born into like some might believe.
To be eligible to just be nominated you have to have been a driver or a non driver, for at least 10 years, in addition to being retired for at least 3. If there are special circumstances, other candidates could be considered.
The process consists of selection is a 20 member committee who will choose from the ones that are eligible. Once they have chosen the candidates, a voting committee will cast 48 votes that include the nominating committee, 14 representatives from the media, 1 from each car manufacturer- Chevrolet, Dodge, Ford and Toyota; 3 each of retired drivers, owners, crew chiefs and 1 vote that will be from the results of the fans voting nationwide.
I don’t think NASCAR aims too high when it comes to choosing a driver to induct into the NASCAR Hall of Fame. This is a tough demanding job. You have to be physically and mentally fit to be able to drive one of these mean machines. These are not the cars your grandparents took for a Sunday drive to town.
